The Bureau of Customs (BOC), led by Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno, is amending Customs Administrative Order No. 07-2022 to extend the validity of importer accreditation from one (1) year to three (3) years. This reform responds to stakeholder sentiments and supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to improve ease of doing business.

The extension aims to enhance operational efficiency, uphold integrity, and reduce opportunities for corruption. It will also ease the administrative burden on importers and lead to smoother trade transactions.

The processing fee will be adjusted from PHP 2,000 to PHP 5,000 for the three-year validity. The application form will be updated with additional fields for more accurate data collection and improved compliance monitoring.

Importers will be required to submit an annual reportorial compliance 30 days before the anniversary of their accreditation, summarizing updates to business documents or information.

The amendment will also include clear guidelines for the automatic renewal of accreditations for eligible importers. The BOC is currently reviewing the draft amendment with its legal team to ensure compliance with existing laws before implementation.
